The 13th Annual Warrior Competition (AWC) took place at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Centre (KASOTC) in Jordan from 25 to 29 August. This year was exceptional for Slovakia, as the 5th Special Forces Regiment team achieved its best ever result in this prestigious competition, finishing 4th overall.
      Organised by the Jordanian Armed Forces, the AWC is one of the most demanding and prestigious international special forces competitions, where elite military and police units from all over the world compete. This year's event attracted 32 teams from 19 countries who competed over four days in extremely challenging physical and tactical tasks designed to test their abilities in conditions that simulate real-life combat scenarios.
      During the four days of competition, the Slovak team demonstrated exceptional readiness and physical endurance in conditions where temperatures exceeded 40°C. The competition disciplines included short and long range marksmanship, long distance obstacle marches, hostage rescue from a transport aircraft, close quarter battle (CQB) and culminated in the final challenge, The King's Challenge, which only the top 10 teams qualified. Our team not only made it to this final stage, but finished 4th overall, which is the best result for a European team and the best ever result for Slovakia in this competition.
      The success of the 5th SFR underlines the high level of training of the Slovak Special Forces and their importance in international cooperation in the field of special operations.
